Tri-Air Developments technology will help combat the spread of viruses and
bacteria within the air and on surfaces.
The threats…
By 1918 a human-to-human mutated strain of the Bird Flu virus was estimated to have killed 50 million people worldwide, killing more people than the combined fatalities of WWI and WWII. “Experts at WHO and elsewhere believe that the world is now closer to another influenza pandemic than at any time since 1968, when the last of the previous century's three pandemics occurred.” Source: World Health Organization 2007.
MRSA kills more than 5,000 people in the UK every year (National Audit Office, 2006) and is estimated to cost the UK Government in excess of £1bn per annum, and in the USA, the cost of hospital acquired infections including MRSA is estimated to be between $4bn - $5bn per year, see:http://www.hpac.com/Issue/Article/44503/44503.
It is not just the tragic loss of human life caused by these infections which is driving Governments to look for better solutions, but also the huge financial and operational strain it places upon healthcare services and resources.
Our way of life is continually threatened by viruses and bacteria, whether the threat is from the likes of the common cold, flu or more deadly viruses like H5N1 or bacteria like MRSA.
